If you do bad things on this wiki, your hostname can listed here. This is mainly so that we can check if you are a repeat offender or not.

I really don't think this is necessary. That user may have just wanted to help, and it's not like he or she destroyed any of the pages or altered the content in a way that really effected anything. It's not right to spotlight someone like that unless they are destroying pages, provoking arguments, or being a nuisance in some other way. In that case, they should probably be banned. -- MikeNolan

We've had multiple hostnames adding the word "poop" in random places on pages. I think these people, if no one else, deserve this page. -- AdamChlipala

This page is mainly for the poop artists mentioned by Adam. I do think that "total newb" is always used to be either derogatory or self-degrading (obviously not the latter, in this case), which is why this fellow got first mention. In a sense, he just drew the short straw - he was the one who pushed me over the edge to make this page, so he got put on it.

Hehe, I thought the quotes were pretty funny. Just because of that you put him in the HallOfShame Adam? Isn't that a tinge harsh? In sports, you have to be really astonishing to be put in the Hall of Fame. Also, won't this page just provoke vandilizers more? I am sure most of them want to be on this page. - KennyChan

Why would anyone want to be put into the Hall of Shame? -- MikeNolan

Well, if someone really wants to have his name in the Hall of Shame, he could always put it there himself... -- MarkusB

Mike, why would they waste their time to vandilize the Wiki anyways? To get attention? It is the same reason as why people want to be kicked off IRC. This site just gives them attention. Wouldn't it be better just to replace the sites and bore them until they realize that no matter cares about what they do? - KennyChan

<based on misreading previous comment>I think it's obvious that it's not "better" to take down an informational resource for a week just to get some "script kiddies" to lose interest.</based on misreading previous comment> It might be better to keep this list of hostnames privately, though. -- AdamChlipala

I think that with "replace" KennyChan ment to revert the sites to their state before the "script kiddie" came along. I also believe that keeping the hostnames/ip's public is a good idea - some kids always get scared when they see their hostname/ip instead of their nick in public. -- MarkusB

Yes, thanks MarkusB :). If they realize that the admins don't care, they might stop doing it. If we pay no attention to it, they might think that the admins are deleting their crap too fast for us to see it, so since we don't see it, their point of putting funny quotes on the site are rendered useless. What would be the point of messing up the site, if nobody takes notice? - KennyChan

You shouldn't use the term "admins." Anyone can fix anything on a wiki. -- AdamChlipala

Would Moderators be the better term? -- KennyChan

Not really. Ideally, no one has any extra privileges over anyone else here. --AdamChlipala

So the ability to ban someone isn't an extra privilege? -- KennyChan

There is no such feature in MoinMoin. It has to be done in the web server configuration so yes it requires extra privileges but it has nothing to do with the wiki. -- FrancoisDenisGonthier
