All The World's An Algorithm
Site Much Needed
This site is great. In many ways precisely the type of site I've been looking for. I'd always tried keeping a blog at blogger.com, but all I wanted to "blog" about was scripts and snippets of code!
The formatting system here is great as well. Though It'd be super sweet if perl, ruby, and other languages could be auto-highlighted just like python.
For the last 6 months or so ruby has been my favorite language.
A number of ruby projects (Raimo, MarcoPolo, LifeInArt) are available at my college filebox: Filebox
There is also a complex perl program I wrote last summer called "Scrabbler".
Almost all of the programs utilize Tk.
"Scrabbler" shows a scrabble board and calculates your best possible moves.
"Raimo" is a ruby library for utilizing the AIM TOC protocol. I've been working on this most recently, and there are small graphical buddylists built on top of the library files included here as well. One of the buddy lists is based on Ruby/Tk, the other on FXRuby.
"LifeInArt" is a program where you select images and they evolve slightly modified children. Kind of like "Biomorphs" as described by Richard Dawkins.
"MarcoPolo" is a program to find shortest routes between given paths...i.e. Traveling Salesman Problems
About Me
I'm a CS major at Va Tech. I have a job writing mostly perl/tk for a property management company, along with the occasional hellish duty of maintaining legacy VB applications. I neglect my schoolwork and stay up all night writing my own pet projects. Nonetheless I'm going to manage to graduate, on time, next may, 2004. At which time I plan to pilot bicycles up severe inclines with unflagging speed, build large suspension bridges in my yard, and defend a small village in the Amazon Basin from a horde of ferocious army ants. And that's all *before* I get my student loans paid off.
